Baby Play and Learning

  • Babies

    Meet other parents and spend time with your baby enjoying activities, songs, and movement together. This class is also a time to discuss baby development and parenting with our parenting educator and the other parents. Join anytime throughout the session if there is room! This is a non-separating class during parent discussion.

Monday Mixed Ages - Birth - 5 (not yet in Kindergarten)

    Children and parents/caregivers will spend an afternoon together to enjoy playtime, learning experiences, toys, games, songs, parent discussion and more! After the first half of the class, children will enjoy a snack and playtime with the early childhood teacher and friends while the adults move to another classroom to visit about parenting topics with the parenting educator.

Music and Movement - Ages 1-5

    In Music and Movement families will get the opportunity to explore songs and rhythms with their child while engaging together through wiggles and dance and much more! This separating class will also include a parent discussion time with our parent educator while their children continue to move, groove, and play with our early childhood staff.

D-C Kids - Ages Birth-5 (not yet in kindergarten)

    Come together with your children/grandchildren and have fun exploring activities purposefully designed in the areas of language/literacy development, social/emotional development, cognitive development, and physical development. Children will then stay in the classroom with the early childhood teacher and para to eat their bagged lunch and play with their classmates while the parents go to another room to discuss parenting topics with the parenting educator.

LITTLE CHARGERS - AGE 1-3.5 YRS

    These little ones are discovering so much about themselves and their world! Come with your toddler and enjoy a variety of activities to promote learning through play. Parents will also enjoy discussions about parenting & child development. This is a non-separating class during parent discussion.

Night Owls - Birth - 5 (not yet in kindergarten)

    Night Owls is a great way to reconnect with your child(ren) after a long day! Enjoy an evening of fun as you and your child meet new friends and explore hands-on activities. During parent time, moms and dads move to a separate room to discuss a variety of topics that explore many aspects of parenting.

    Explore art, science, music, and much more based on the book adventure of the week! Enjoy time with your child and meet new friends. Midway through class, the children will remain in the classroom with the early childhood teacher and para while they eat their bagged lunch and play with their friends while the parents go to another room to discuss parenting topics with the parenting educator.

kinship caregivers - relatives as parents

  • This group brings together grandparents and other relatives who are raising their grandchildren or other family members. It is a time to discuss struggles and celebrations in a safe, supportive environment. The gathering is facilitated by a licensed social worker and licensed parenting educator.

    The Kinship Caregivers group is FREE, including a free meal and free childcare. This group gathers once a month September-May (day varies) from 6:00-7:30 pm at Cokato Elementary.

PERSONALIZED PARENT EDUCATION

  • Personalized parenting visits are FREE for families with children ages birth to 5 (not yet in kindergarten). Talk with our parent educator about your questions regarding your infant, toddler or preschooler. She can meet with you at your home, at the Early Childhood Center, over the phone, on the playground...wherever works for you!

    Topics may include, but are not limited to:
    How Children Grow * Parenting Support * Community Resources * Problem Solving * Challenging Behaviors * Family Goal Setting * Learning through Play * Toileting * Sleep
