Early Childhood Screening
FREE • Simple • Important
Early Childhood Screening is a free, quick, and essential check-up that helps ensure your child is on track for school—both academically and physically. It identifies potential health, learning, or developmental concerns early, so your child can get the support they need early before school starts.
While screening is ideally done at age 3, Minnesota law requires all children to be screened before starting kindergarten—Don’t wait! Early detection can make a big difference.
The Screening Process
During Early Childhood Screening, our friendly nurses and early childhood professionals will guide your child through play-based activities to assess:
- Thinking, language, and communication skills
- Social and emotional development
- Large and small motor skills
- Hearing and vision
- Height and weight
The experience is relaxed and child-friendly—designed to make both you and your child feel comfortable while gathering valuable information to support your child’s success in school.
