Planning Process

Approximately five years ago, Dassel-Cokato Schools participated in a facilitated strategic planning process with administrators, staff, and community members.

The goals and objectives created from that process have guided our district since 2018. On February 13th, the 2018-2023 strategic plan progress was reviewed at the School Board meeting, and when this school year comes to a close, the Dassel-Cokato Public Schools Strategic Plan I 2018-2023 will be considered completed as well.

Strategic plans help school districts integrate their mission, vision, goals, and objectives to create an educational and organizational roadmap for the coming years.  As a district, we are initiating the planning process to create our next strategic plan.  We will be using a process called "Classroom to Boardroom" which involves students, staff, families, community members, and the school board.

Initiating the planning process is the development of the StoryWall Lifecycle of Dassel-Cokato Schools and a current Environmental Scan of the district. A “StoryWall” is a historical marker looking back at the history of the district. What can we learn from that? What information is valuable moving forward? An “Environmental Scan” is a snapshot of the present day, looking at what the district is considering implementing, what it’s implementing currently, or what’s already standard.

Input from nearly 250 people representing students, staff, and community members will help develop a clear description of the Desired Daily Experience, which will serve as the the strategic plan's vision.
