Dassel-Cokato Schools participated in a facilitated strategic planning process with administrators, staff, and community members.
The goals and objectives developed through that process have guided our district since 2018. On February 13, the School Board reviewed progress on the 2018–2023 Strategic Plan, and with the close of the 2023 school year, the Dassel-Cokato Public Schools Strategic Plan I (2018–2023) was officially completed.
Strategic plans help school districts align their mission, vision, goals, and objectives, providing an educational and organizational roadmap for the years ahead. As a district, we are now initiating the planning process to develop our next strategic plan. We will be using a process called Classroom to Boardroom, which engages students, staff, families, community members, and the School Board in shaping our future direction.
Initiating the planning process is the development of the Story Wall Lifecycle of Dassel-Cokato Schools and a current Environmental Scan of the district. A “StoryWall” is a historical marker looking back at the history of the district. What can we learn from that? What information is valuable moving forward? An “Environmental Scan” is a snapshot of the present day, looking at what the district is considering implementing, what it’s implementing currently, or what’s already standard.
Input from nearly 250 people representing students, staff, and community members will help develop a clear description of the Desired Daily Experience, which will serve as the the strategic plan's vision.
