Summer is upon us!

This school year has been very challenging for all of us; parents, students, staff, and the community.  My thanks go out to all of you for your hard work, trust, patience, and perseverance.  We’ve made the best of a tough situation and succeeded at a high level!  Our children were in school learning as much or more than most districts.

With all of the challenges, Covid 19 presented we still managed to complete, and begin, some exciting projects.  The parking lot replacement and new road are finally complete and work well.  The pool has a completely new HVAC system that has drastically improved air quality and will make the pool experience better for fans and participants.  The new project, which will kick off in July, will result in the rec center building being occupiable by December of 2021.  The building will have a cement floor with piping for a future ice rink.  The only issue to be addressed before the building is truly usable is what kind of floor to put on the cement which the school board will deal with moving forward.   With all of the other challenges we have faced, completing and pursuing these projects has been very satisfying.

As I write my last “Powers Points” it is important to me to express my gratitude to the community for the support you have given me for the past 21 years.  My family moved to Dassel-Cokato for a job and it turned out to be home for us.  Best wishes to all of you moving forward.  Remember, schools only succeed if there is a strong, positive relationship between all stakeholders.

I look forward to being a member of our community in a different way.  Thank you for a wonderful career!
