DCMS Sandwich Making Day!

On Friday, March 4th, the DCMS students watched the documentary Starfish Throwers, which talked about homelessness in Minnesota and the work Allen Law does to help make a difference.

  • There are an estimated 7,000 homeless people in Minnesota every night.
    • Over 2,200 of these homeless people are children.
  • Allan Law spends every night driving the streets of Minneapolis looking for people to help.
  • He delivers sandwiches to the homeless, and for some, this is their only meal of the day.
  • His ministry also gives out basic supplies like soap, blankets, and socks.

On March 11th, DCMS students got to meet Allan Law - The Sandwichman and had the opportunity to support his work by rolling up their sleeves and pitching in. Students participated in a sandwich-making day and assembled a whopping 1,000 sandwiches.  They also set a $1 per person fundraising goal but ended up bringing in $1665 in donations!

DCMS Charger Times that raised more than $100 each included: Mr. Bessingpas's, Ms.Acosta's, and Mr.Illies's!  Way to go Chargers!
