7th grade art students learn about Micrography.

Micrography is the art of creating pictures and designs out of tiny written words.

7th graders used this process to draw portraits of influential Black Amerians of our past and present. They selected significant text, such as the person's name, biographical information, quotes, speeches, and song lyrics. Some reported incorporating the entire "I Have a Dream" speech into their drawing.

The goals for this project were to create the illusion of line and variety of values using text, and more importantly to shine a light on Black people who changed the world in celebration of Black History Month.
